What We Do
Founded in 2006, Wanakia Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, which serves Washington County, Wisconsin, and neighboring communities, admits approximately 350 ill, injured or orphaned animals annually.
The ill and injured are provided appropriate medical treatment, diet and habitats as they recover to total health. The orphaned, too immature to be on their own, are provided with the proper diet and habitat in which to grow. Once they reach a stage of independence, they are returned to their natural habitat.
The center also houses a number of residents whose disabilities prevent them from returning to the wild. These non-releasable ambassadors play key roles during wildlife educational programs provided to schools and community organizations.
